Tempe (a suburb of Phoenix, Arizona) is uniquely positioned, with its warm, sunny weather throughout the year. Typical highs in winter range from (18 - 24C or 64 - 75 F). Phoenix is the commercial and legislative capital of Arizona and has a fast growing aerospace, electronics and optics sector. The aerospace sector includes companies such as Orbital Sciences, Lockheed Martin, Boeing, Raytheon and Honeywell. In addition, the outskirts of Phoenix host major microprocessor manufacturers, including Intel and Microchip. Phoenix is in one quadrant of the "Optics Silicon Valley," with a large ecosystem of opto- electronics manufacturers, observatories and research institutions.
