Binghamton University is a premier public university in the northeast. One of four research universities in the SUNY (State University of New York) system, Binghamton enrolls ~15,000 undergraduate and graduate students in its six schools and colleges. Founded in 1946, Binghamton University has swiftly built a reputation for excellence in undergraduate education that is bolstered by growing, high-quality graduate programs and an expanding research enterprise. The Department of Geological Sciences and Environmental Studies consists of ten full-time Geology faculty and offers BA, BS, MS and PhD degrees. Our major focus areas of graduate research are Earth surface processes, geochemistry, and sedimentary geology.
