Institut national de la recherche scientifique (INRS) is dedicated to university graduate level research and training. It is the highest-ranked academic research institute in Canada in terms of research intensity (funding per faculty member). One hundred and fifty professors and more than 800 graduate students and postdoctoral fellows work at its four research centres in Quebec. INRS research teams are active in both fundamental and applied research and play a key role in developing practical solutions to problems confronting society. Centre Eau Terre Environnement (Water Earth Environment Research Centre) focuses its activities on the sustainable management of water and earth resources and on finding solutions to environmental problems.
