ESF is PhD-granting institution specializing in environmental sciences. The Chemistry Department focuses on applied chemistry, with Environmental Chemistry being the largest area. Six faculty have environmental chemistry as their primary research focus, and most other faculty do research related to the environment, such as in sustainability, green chemistry, or chemical ecology.
