Tropical methane emissions in wetland and freshwater environments
Stanford University, the Carnegie Institution for Science, and NASA Goddard seek a full-time postdoctoral earth scientist in remote sensing, geospatial analyses, or biogeosciences to improve spatial scaling of tropical methane emissions using hyperspectral, multispectral, and other remote sensing approaches. The successful candidate should have expertise in remote sensing and geospatial analysis—to refine mapping of habitats relevant to the methane cycle in the Amazon and southeast Asia—with experience in modeling or field sampling of methane emissions in tropical systems also desirable. This international collaboration is part of a larger effort to improve understanding of sources and sinks in the global methane cycle through the Global Carbon Project (globalcarbonproject.org). The postdoctoral scientist will have additional opportunities to interact with other researchers examining arctic and boreal methane emissions on the same grant and to link with other international efforts.
