Postdoctoral Fellow Position at University of Calgary

Geomorphology and Landscape Development

Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Fellow position to join a research team working on an NSERC-funded research program that considers the geomorphic development (hillslope and fluvial) in the Canadian Rockies over the Holocene, and its connections to the hydrology and ecology in this region. The objective of this project is to understand long-term geomorphic process operation and the factors that control the nature of landscape change, including the tectonic history, structural geology and glacial legacy of this landscape. The main tasks of the successful applicant will be to undertake quantitative and computational analysis, in conjunction with field-based observations, to address questions related to the themes described above. The PDF will play a critical role in the research program of the PI by improving our knowledge of geomorphic process operation and regional landscape change in the Canadian Rockies. This postdoctoral appointment is for one year. The successful applicant will have opportunities to interact with the earth science research community in the Department of Geography and other relevant Departments, including the Department of Geoscience and the Department of Biological Sciences, at the University of Calgary.

Qualifications: Applicants must have a PhD in a relevant specialization in geomorphology and/or earth surface processes. The preferred candidate will have experience in quantitative analysis, GIS/remote sensing, geostatistics and/or numerical modelling. Applicants will be expected to produce peer-reviewed journal publications. The preferred candidate will possess excellent oral and written communication skills.

To apply, please submit the following information to the email below: cover letter (statement of background, research interests and motivation for the position); current CV (including publication list); contact information for three references.
