Salary: AUD87,415 - AUD93,830 p.a. plus 9.5% superannuation
The School of Earth Science at the University of Melbourne is seeking an exceptional Postdoctoral Research Fellow Level A to work in the field of earthquake seismology. The successful candidate will have knowledge of geology and geological processes and experience of digital signal processing theory and practice. Knowledge and experience of observational earthquake seismology and the use of earthquake seismology equipment is highly desirable.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the:
(i) acquisition/development of digital processing software optimised for use with seismic data from a noisy environment,
(ii) optimisation of a seismic network in a high noise, coastal environment,
(iii) calculation of high precision earthquake locations, magnitude and moments,
(iv) development of velocity models and ground motion models,
(v) characterisation of seismic structure on the large and small scale.
This is a full-time fixed term position for 2 years.
