Postdoctoral Research Scientist
The AGES (Argon Geochronology for the Earth Sciences) laboratory at Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory of Columbia University seeks to hire a Postdoctoral Research Scientist. Responsibilities will include participation in the installation and testing of a new noble gas system for Ar-Ar geochronology and research using Ar-Ar and other thermochronometers on detritus from Antarctica. The Postdoc will be encouraged to develop new projects and collaborations and to be involved in method developments and applications on other noble gas systems at LDEO. The lab is located near the NYC metro area, offering many opportunities for interactions within Columbia University departments, and other area Universities. This position is located in Rockland County, NY at the Lamont Campus of The Earth Institute at Columbia University.
A PhD is required in noble gas geochemistry or a closely related field. Experience in designing and developing mass spectrometry systems is preferred. Excellent command (verbal and written) of the English language is preferred. Strong interpersonal skills desired.
Appointment will be for 1 year, with continuation pending funding and progress.
