Postdoctoral Research Scientist
The Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory of Columbia University invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Scientist position in tropical physical oceanography of relevance to seasonal to decadal climate variability and change. The successful candidate will work on a NSF funded project on the physical oceanographic causes of sea surface temperature states that causes extreme weather and climate events.
Candidates must have a PhD in either physical oceanography or climate, atmospheric and related sciences with a concentration in physical oceanography and a keen interest in tropical physical oceanographic problems of relevance to climate variability and change including upper ocean dynamics and air-sea interaction. Demonstrated skill in the ability to analyze and manipulate large and disparate datasets and familiarity with diagnosis of ocean Reanalyses and ocean general circulation models is preferred.
The position will be located at the Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory in Palisades, NY in the research group of Richard Seager, Mark Cane and Ryan Abernathy.
Appointment will be for 1 year, with continuation pending funding and progress.
