Postdoctoral Research Fellow
The Climate and Health Program at Columbia’s Mailman School of Public Health seeks a Postdoctoral Research Scientist for a two-year appointment starting September 15, 2017. The Climate and Health Program’s mission is to foster innovative scholarship on the human health dimensions of climate change effects and vulnerabilities and to improve understanding of and develop strategies for maximizing the health benefits of efforts to mitigate climate change. Current research examines: effects of air pollution on health; the health benefits of coordinated air quality and greenhouse gas mitigation policies scenarios; links between climate and pollen and allergic diseases, like asthma; heat and cold related morbidity and mortality in a changing climate; infectious disease outbreaks, and the modeling and prediction of infectious disease; and health effects of household biomass combustion for cooking in developing countries, a major contributor to greenhouse gases that contribute to global warming. We welcome new applicants with interests in these areas, or in other areas in which climate may plan an important role in the health of populations.
