This is a joint position in the department of Environmental Sciences (51%) and Oceanography and Coastal Science (49%) for a spatial coastal/environmental scientist.   Candidates for this position will be expected to establish a rigorous extramurally funded research program and teach courses in the departments within the College of the Coast and Environment. Research and teaching areas could include but are not limited to Integrated ecosystem assessment; coupled natural and human system modeling; hazard and risk assessment and/or food, energy, water nexus modeling. Skills in GIS, remote sensing, and spatial modeling essential.


Job Responsibilities

Develop and maintain a rigorous, externally funded research and publication program (45%)

Teach courses applicable to the expertise of the applicant and needs of the Departments of Environmental Sciences and Oceanography and Coastal Science (30%)

Mentor undergraduate and graduate students (15%)

Provide intramural and extramural service to the University as well as external groups (10%).

Special Qualifications

Candidates will be expected to interact with faculty in both departments in the College of the Coast and Environment.  Expertise could include Integrated ecosystem assessment; coupled natural and human system modeling; hazard and risk assessment and/or food, energy, water nexus modeling.  Skills in GIS, remote sensing, and spatial statistics essential.

 

Job Competencies

Demonstrated potential to sustain an active research program, strong publication record, commensurate with experience, and ability to provide quality mentoring and teaching to undergraduate and graduate students.
