Yale’s School of Environmental Studies invites applications for a postdoctoral associate in hydrology. The successful candidate will play a leading role in a study of water quality and human health impacts of unconventional oil and gas (UO&G) production. This position will entail development of numerical and statistical models that quantify drinking water vulnerability to contamination by UO&G activities. Other responsibilities will include drinking water sampling and chemical analyses and interpretation of these data. The candidate will collaborate with two other postdoctoral associates, graduate students, and an interdisciplinary team of senior scientists with expertise in hydrology, environmental heath, chemistry, epidemiology, and statistics. Graduate-level training in hydrology and expertise in numerical or statistical modeling is essential for this position. Laboratory experience is less important, although previous exposure to methods of water quality analysis is a plus. The appointment is for 24 months with a possibility of a one-year extension. To apply, send a description of research experience, curriculum vitae, reprints of publications, and contact information for three references to Professor James Saiers at Application review will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.
