Our next hire at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor in water science will play a central role in Geosciences’ contribution to Georgia State’s strategic goals of using collaborative research to tackle the most challenging issues of the 21st century and ensuring that students from all backgrounds can achieve academic and career success at high rates. We are excited to receive applications from researchers whose foci may range broadly across physical, chemical, or social aspects of water-related sciences and who are committed to collaborative research with other units on campus. Opportunities for support include intramural research grants, summer funding, teaching release time, graduate research assistantships, travel funds, and assistance in pursuing external funding. Through agreements with the Departments of Chemistry and Sociology, Geosciences faculty may direct dissertations in those departments. With water-related research a major focus of the department, there is also an undergraduate certificate and an M.S. concentration offered in water sciences.

Responsibilities

The selected candidate will be responsible for maintaining an active, funded research agenda, teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in his/her area of expertise, and participating in service at the department, college, and university levels.

Qualifications

Essential Qualifications

  • Ph.D. at time of application
  • A record of publications in peer-reviewed journals
  • A record of funded research
  • A record of mentoring students in research

Preferred Qualifications

  • Has achieved the rank of Associate Professor, Professor, or equivalent
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative setting
