Ph.D. Graduate Research Assistant: Biogeochemistry

The Interdisciplinary Hydrology Laboratory (http://www.forh2o.net/) at West Virginia University has an opening for a Ph.D. graduate research assistant (GRA). West Virginia University is the state’s flagship research-one institution, and is among the top universities in the nation, with demonstrated excellence in teaching and research. Start date is June 1, 2018 (negotiable). The incumbent will investigate surface water flow and biogeochemical regimes in a mixed-land-use watershed of the Appalachian region of the United States (https://iwss.wvu.edu/projects/west-run-watershed). Research outcomes will advance scientific understanding of hydro-biogeochemical processes and mixed land-management practices in complex mountainous terrain. Duties may include various aspects of field and lab work including stream flow estimations, monitoring, equipment maintenance and the collection- processing- and analyses of data, and modeling of chemical and nutrient transport and transformation processes. An exceptional dissertation and multiple publications are expected.

Applicants must possess bachelors and master’s degrees completed in environmental sciences, hydrology, water chemistry, water resources, or a closely related field. Successful applicants will work collaboratively and independently, must have a valid US driver's license and automobile.
