National Program Leader Position

 for Engineering

The USDA, Agricultural Research Service (ARS), Office of National Programs, Natural Resources and Sustainable Agricultural Systems in Beltsville, MD, is seeking a permanent, full-time, National Program Leader with a strong scientific background in agricultural and post-production systems engineering, systems automation and mechanization. This leadership and technical expert position provides support to other national programs for which expert knowledge in engineering may have relevance, including research programs in sustainable agricultural systems, crop and animal production and protection, nutrition, food safety, and quality of agricultural products. The National Program Leader position serves as a key leader for research programs on automation, mechanization, and sensor development, and their integration into the processes and management strategies in agricultural systems.  Key characteristics of a successful National Program Leader include excellent scientific credentials from a personal research program, big picture thinker, vision for the research program, team player as both leader and member, excellent people skills, and effective communication skills.
