Universidad de los Andes seeks applications for four full-time faculty positions in the Department of Geosciences. It is the 5th highest ranked University in Latin America by the Times Higher Education Rankings 2017, with a student body of 15,000 undergraduate students and 4,000 graduate students. The Geosciences Department currently consists of eleven full-time research and teaching faculty.

Applicants are required to have a Ph.D. degree in Earth Sciences, ideally with two years postdoctoral experience and demonstrated capabilities to lead a scientific research program and/or extensive and relevant industrial experience. All candidates must have a record of significant and innovative research, documented by peer-reviewed publications.

We specially encourage applications from candidates with a strong background in exploration geophysics, preferably with experience in potential field methods. The successful candidates will be expected to develop and maintain a vigorous, externally funded research program; teach courses at undergraduate and graduate levels in English or Spanish; supervise undergraduate, masters, and doctoral level research conducted by students; contribute to departmental and University administration; support outreach activities. It is anticipated that the appointments will be made at the Assistant Professor level. However, higher level appointments will be considered on an individual basis for applicants with appropriate qualifications.

Applicants should submit a cover letter, a curriculum vitae, a clearly defined research proposal, a teaching statement, and contact information of three referees. These should be submitted in single a PDF file to the following e-mail address: director-geociencias@uniandes.edu.co
