The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Portland State University has two post-doctoral positions open. The successful candidate will support innovative watershed, water quality and contaminant modeling research and development projects. The tasks involved will include but are not limited to:
- Develop new numerical approaches to simulate transport and biogeochemical processes of nutrients and toxic chemicals at the watershed scale
- Modify/improve existing water quality models using Fortran and validate new capabilities.
- Apply hydraulic and water quality models and process models results.
- Contribute to the dissemination of the team’s scientific advances through publications.
The position requires a Ph.D. in hydrology, hydraulics, environmental engineering, chemical oceanography, biogeochemistry, or a related field. The candidate is expected to be a highly self-motivated individual, with a demonstrated ability to conduct scientific research and development independently. It is especially important to deliver the expected products on schedule. The candidate must have experience in Fortran or other programming, running and troubleshooting numerical codes.
