Tenure Track Assistant Professor, Marine or Environmental Geology

The Department of Geosciences at Florida Atlantic University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Marine or Environmental Geology with a start date of August 2019.  We seek candidates with the strong potential to conduct transformative externally funded research within their area of specialization. Priority will be given to applicants with a research background that complements the Department’s existing expertise, and which may include carbonate geology/karst, geohazards, paleoclimatology, sediment flux dynamics and modeling, marine geophysics, plate tectonics, among others.

The successful candidate is expected to contribute to the FAU research focusing on Ocean Science and Engineering/Environmental Sciences outlined in the University’s 10-year strategic plan. FAU has a culture that fosters innovation and collaboration internally as well as with local, national, and international partners.  We seek a colleague who will join in this culture by building collaborations with Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institution and other FAU and external research entities.

The successful candidate will supervise undergraduate research as well as M.S. and Ph.D. students and will fill existing curricular needs in the department by teaching both undergraduate and graduate level courses. We also seek a colleague who will engage in service within the University, the profession, and the South Florida community.

Minimum Qualification:

Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Geology or closely related field at the time of the hire. Post-doctoral experience is highly desirable.
