Interdisciplinary Post Doc Researcher

The USDA, Agricultural Research Service (ARS), Poultry Production and Product Safety Research Unit, Fayetteville, Arkansas, is seeking an Interdisciplinary Post Doc Researcher. The mission of this project is to advance understandings of agricultural systems, which include interactions linking hydrology with soil health, plant growth, and nutrient cycling for the promotion of optimal function for healthy agricultural systems. The incumbent is a USDA-ARS Post-Doctoral Research Associate located within the University of Arkansas Campus, Fayetteville, AR. The incumbent will be part of a multidisciplinary team of ARS and University scientists at several locations to improve methods for integrating datasets from different sources and scales for improved visualization and statistical procedures for multiple trophic-level research. The incumbent will also be responsible for providing expertise in handling spatially and temporally diverse data sets and ultimately to develop a data management and analytical tool which includes workflows, interpretation methodology, analysis and a delivery system for identifying optimal systems for sustainable intensification or diversification. The assignment requires a professional knowledge of hydrology, soil science (chemistry, microbiology, or nutrient management), physical science, plant science, agronomy, agricultural engineering or related discipline of computer science or engineering, and an understanding of crop responses to soil, climate, and nutrient constraints. Working knowledge of hydrologic simulation models, geographical information systems, meteorological data, geostatistics, and experience with data organization will be helpful. The incumbent should also have skills in data analytic techniques for systems-level data analysis.
