The Geodesy and Geophysics Laboratory at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center seeks a scientist with expertise in quantifying changes in continental waters and the contributions to sea-level using space geodetic and remote sensing data and methodologies, with a specific focus on radar and laser altimeter data analysis and application.

The individual will develop advanced radar and laser altimeter data analysis algorithms and techniques, in combination with other space-based geodetic observations such as satellite gravimetry, to significantly advance our understanding of continental water changes and the contributions to sea level variability on seasonal, and decadal time scales.  These data include: satellite altimetry (TOPEX, JASON -1,2,3, ICESat-1,2, GEDI), satellite gravimetry (GRACE and GRACE-FO), tide gauge, and model output including terrestrial water storage and precipitation.  The successful candidate will be expected to maintain an externally funded research program.

The above position is intended for a civil servant hire and restricted to U.S. citizens and U.S. nationals.  A Ph.D. or equivalent experience in Earth sciences or related discipline is highly desirable.  Interested scientists should submit applications through USAJOBS (www.usajobs.gov) (search vacancy announcement # GS19D0022).  Applications must be received by January 3, 2019 via the USAJOBS website.

NASA GSFC is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
