The School of Environment at the University of Auckland (UOA), New Zealand, invites outstanding applicants for a full-time academic position in Earth Sciences. We seek a collaborative and collegial geoscientist who complements our existing research strengths and has a strong commitment to high-quality and innovative teaching. Demonstrated ability to teach and research in tectonic geomorphology and/or structural geology will be an advantage but is not essential. The ideal candidate will be expected to contribute to field-based teaching in the Earth Sciences programme.
The position is at the level of Lecturer/Senior Lecturer. A PhD is required and post-doctoral experience will be an advantage. A record of research publication is expected and the successful candidate will be expected to develop an externally funded and internationally-recognised research programme. The successful candidate will undertake postgraduate student supervision, teaching of undergraduate and postgraduate courses; and contribute to School and wider university activities as required.
The School of Environment is a diverse unit of more than fifty academics who deliver programmes in Earth Sciences, Geography, Geographic Information Science, Environmental Science, and Environmental Management. Within Earth Sciences, staff research interests span active tectonics and landscape evolution, coastal and river processes, paleoenvironmental reconstruction, climate science, geohazards, marine geoscience, ore-forming hydrothermal systems, geophysics and volcanic systems. We seek candidates who will interact with research groups both within and outside the School, and thereby strengthen research linkages with other parts of the university.
