Department of Applied Physics and Applied Mathematics
Postdoctoral Research Scientist Position in Atmospheric Sciences
The Department of Applied Physics and Applied Mathematics at Columbia University invites applicants for a Postdoctoral Research Scientist position in Atmospheric Sciences.
The successful candidate will work on a project that aims to understand the processes that are involved in the interactions between the Earth’s cloud, radiation, and precipitation fields and atmospheric dynamics. The work will involve the correlative analysis of satellite observations of cloud, radiation, and precipitation properties and atmospheric dynamic parameters, in order to quantify the relationships between the different fields and to understand the processes involved in their interactions. The work will also involve the analysis of climate model output, in order to test the ability of the models to simulate the observed processes and interactions and to examine the feedbacks produced by those interactions in climate change simulations.
Applications and supporting documentation for the position must be submitted online via http://pa334.peopleadmin.com/postings/2470
The research will be jointly supervised by Dr. George Tselioudis, NASA GISS and Dr. Lorenzo Polvani, Department of Applied Physics and Applied Mathematics.
Interested candidates are encouraged to direct inquiries to gt9@columbia.edu
