Post-Doctoral Associate

The University of Maryland Department of Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences (AOSC) invites applications to fill a post-doctoral associate position on air quality modeling and/or satellite data assimilation. We seek a highly motivated researcher to conduct research on improving emission, dispersion and chemical transport modeling of atmospheric composition. The applicant will have the opportunity to work with federal scientists at National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and National Aeronautics and Space Agency (NASA) on collaborative projects.

Minimum qualifications:
• M.S. or Ph.D. degree in atmospheric science, computer science, geography, or a related subject;
• Prior experience with regional and global chemical transport models, such as CMAQ, HYSPLIT, and GOES-Chem;
• Familiarity with dust modeling and satellite data related to air quality and earth system model applications is preferable;
• Articulation in written and spoken English to communicate technical findings;
• Ability to work independently and cooperatively within a team.
