Applications are invited for a postdoctoral position to conduct research in the area of environmental and water resources engineering with Drs. Kinoshita and Mladenov at the Department of Civil, Construction, and Environmental Engineering at San Diego State University. The postdoctoral position will focus on novel research to evaluate post-fire erosional processes and other conditions that may contribute to altered water quality in urban riverine environments.

Applicants must hold a Ph.D. degree in civil engineering, environmental science or engineering, water resources, or a closely related field. The selected candidate should demonstrate evidence of  excellent written and interpersonal communication skills. Expertise in hydrologic and water quality fieldwork, autosampler deployment, water and soil sampling, and laboratory analyses of organic carbon and/or trace metals is preferred. Additional consideration will be given to candidates who are motivated to use collected data in modeling applications. Applicants should be active researchers who are motivated to develop research ideas, present at local and national conferences, write proposals, publish and disseminate research findings with the PIs.

The Civil, Construction and Environmental Engineering department is one of the four departments in the College of Engineering at SDSU. SDSU is a large, diverse, urban university with a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusive excellence. Our campus community is diverse in many ways, including race, religion, color, sex, age, disability, marital status, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, national origin, pregnancy, medical condition, and covered veteran status.  We strive to build and sustain a welcoming environment for all. Applicants with diverse backgrounds and members of underrepresented groups are also encouraged to apply.

The position is available starting April 1, 2019 and will be initially offered for one year with the possibility of renewal dependent upon successful progress in research.

Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience.
