The Ocean Physics Department (OPD) in the Applied Physics Laboratory at the University of Washington (APL-UW) seeks an Oceanographer IV to assists the Northwest Association of Networked Ocean Observing Systems (NANOOS) Executive Director in management and oversight of the program. 

Specific position duties will be to: 
-Prepare reports, maintain communication with PIs, stakeholders, and the Governing Council; prepare presentations, outreach material, evaluations, and proposals; attending calls and meetings that the director cannot. 
- Conduct NANOOS outreach activities including trade shows, oral presentations at user groups/meetings, and working with the broader PNW education network. 
- Assist with oceanographic data analysis and management from NANOOS observing assets. Provide on-going assessment of standardized data product results, e.g., monitors anomalies in variables on the NANOOS web climatology app to help develop informational content. 
- Assist with oceanographic multidisciplinary surveys and field work, including resulting laboratory analyses of standard oceanographic variables, e.g., oxygen, chlorophyll.  Reviews data collected and ensures it meets research study quality standards. 

Requirements: 
Master's degree in Oceanography or related marine science and 4 years of related experience or equivalent combination including; 

- Strong communications skills, both verbal and written. 
- Comfort in working both independently and with oversight to make sure direction is on-track. 
- Ability to multi-task. 
- Word, Excel, Powerpoint proficiency. 
- Oceanographic knowledge and skills with CTD, plankton, water quality analyses 
- Budgets and fiscal understanding
