Job Details

The Horn Point Laboratory (HPL) of the University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science (UMCES) is seeking applications from highly qualified candidates to fill a tenure track faculty position in environmental biogeochemistry focusing on interactions at the land-water interface.

The candidate’s research focus may include, but is not limited to: studying nutrient source tracking; measuring transport, transformation, and fate of nutrients and carbon in watersheds; or studying the effects of land-use on nutrient and elemental fluxes at a variety of temporal and spatial scales. Applicants with expertise in field and/or experimental approaches are especially encouraged to apply, though applicants who primarily use modelling approaches will also be considered.

We are seeking to hire a scientist whose research program will integrate with existing research strengths within UMCES and will address both fundamental and applied problems. The successful candidate will be expected to develop externally funded and innovative research programs, participate actively in graduate-level student education, and collaborate across disciplinary boundaries. The appointment will be full time tenure track with 75% salary support. Preference will be given to candidates at the Assistant Professor level, but exceptional candidates at all faculty ranks will be considered.

Diversity, equity, and inclusion are core values at UMCES. Successful candidates for this position will be expected to collaborate effectively with diverse colleagues and students. We strongly encourage applications from underrepresented groups, including individuals with disabilities, veterans, and women.

A letter of application, curriculum vitae, statement of research, statement of graduate teaching interests, copies of three most relevant publications, and contact information of three academic references should be submitted.  To apply for this position please visit: http://umces.peopleadmin.com/postings/1255

Review of applications will begin May 15, 2019. More information about HPL and UMCES can be found at http://www.umces.edu/hpl.
