Research Assistant Professor in Hydrogeology in the Department of Earth Sciences (Ref.: 494135)
Applications are invited for appointment as Research Assistant Professor in Hydrogeology in the Department of Earth Sciences (Ref.: 494135), to commence as soon as possible, on a three-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal.
Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree by research in Hydrogeology or related disciplines, preferably with post-doctoral research experience. They should have exceptional research strength, an excellent publication record, and the ability to conduct independent research. They should be self-motivated with strong computing and communication skills. Research experience in groundwater and surface water interaction, coastal aquifers, alpine hydrogeology, or hydrogeochemistry would be a definite asset. The appointee will conduct regional or local numerical modeling related to complex subsurface flow and chemical transport processes; perform laboratory experiments and field hydrogeological investigations; author peer-reviewed papers in refereed international journals; work as a member of the existing multidisciplinary team; and write grant proposals and develop his/her own research program. While teaching is not the main duties of this position, the appointee may teach or co-teach a module in postgraduate or undergraduate programmes. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary.
