Officially opened in 2015, The National Water Center (NWC) is a world-class, 65,000-square- foot “green” facility designed to be the nation’s research, development, and operations hub for hydrologic modeling, water prediction, and related decision support services.   The NWC is a component of the National Weather Service’s Office of Water Prediction, whose mission is to collaboratively research, develop, and deliver state-of-the-science water information, services, and guidance to support and inform essential emergency services and water management decisions.  The NWC facilitates collaboration across the water resources enterprise, including federal water science and management agencies and the academic community, to achieve a shared vision of improving water-related forecasting, preparedness, response, and planning activities.

As a Supervisory Physical Scientist, you will perform the following duties:

• Assess, advise and report on the technological and economic feasibility of Office of Water Prediction programs, functions, and projects, assist the OWP Project Management Office in tracking project progress and specify corrective actions necessary to meet cost and schedule baselines.
• Supervise Division staff, manage relationships, resolve conflicts, and provide high-level planning and support for programs, functions, and projects within the OWP portfolio.
• Interact with diverse constituencies and establishes cooperative relationships with officials of federal, state, municipal entities or foreign governments, universities, and the equivalent in the private sector.
