Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE), and the Water and Environmental Research Center (WERC) at the University of Alaska Fairbanks (UAF) invite applications for graduate students (MS/Ph.D.) beginning summer 2019 or fall 2019. The selected candidates will be fully supported with stipend, tuition, and benefits through teaching/research assistantships.
The ideal candidates should possess Master or Bachelor degrees in civil engineering, environmental engineering, chemical engineering, biological system engineering, environmental science, environmental chemistry or a related field with minimum GPA: 3.0. While our department does not have a minimum required score for the GRE, most admitted applicants have a score higher than 150 on the Quantitative Section of the exam. For international students, TOEFL/IELTS score is required (with a university-required minimum TOEFL score of 79, and a minimum IELTS score of 6.5).
There are multiple student openings at this point on research projects related to biofilms in drinking water distribution systems, environmental fate of oil-spill response chemicals in Arctic waters, and impact of renewable energy on modular wastewater systems in rural Alaska communities.
Interested students should contact Dr. Srijan Aggarwal (saggarwal@alaska.edu) for more information; with email subject line “CEE/WERC graduate Application”. A CV in pdf format should be provided in your email showing GPA, GRE and TOFEL scores, the contact information of three references, and a full list of publications if applicable. The review process will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.
