Research Oceanographer, U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) St. Petersburg Coastal and Marine Science Center, St. Petersburg, Fl.  The USGS invites applications for a permanent research position in the field of coastal morphologic and oceanographic processes. The position will be filled at the GS 13 (salary is $88,704 – $115,313 per annum) or GS 14 (salary is $104,821 - $136,271 per annum) depending on qualifications. 

The successful candidate for the position will participate in a broad research program to develop breakthroughs relating to coastal morphologic and oceanographic processes and develop innovative methods for modeling and observation of complex ocean interactions that result in relevant solutions to social science problems.  Preference will be given to researchers with expertise including making and evaluating storm vulnerability assessments, coastal change forecasting, probabilistic updating of coastal change forecasts, and conducting detailed research to better understand beach processes during storms for the purpose of improving predictions.
