The Board of Electors to the Professorship of Geophysics invite applications from persons whose work is connected with relevant aspects of the Earth Sciences, to take up an appointment in the academic year 2019/20 or as soon as possible thereafter.

Candidates will have an outstanding research record of international stature in quantitative physical Earth Sciences, especially in the broad areas of geophysics, geodynamics or tectonics. The person appointed will have the vision, experience and enthusiasm to provide leadership to the Department's multi-disciplinary research strategy, which seeks to place fundamental Earth science research at the heart of addressing current and future societal challenges. They will hold a PhD or equivalent postgraduate qualification.

Standard professorial duties include teaching and research, examining, supervision and administration. The Professor will be based at the Bullard Labs and develop intellectual links between the two geographically separate sites occupied by the Department (at the Bullard Labs and in central Cambridge). A competitive salary will be offered.
