Lab Instructor & Instrumentation Support Specialist

Lafayette College

This full-time, administrative position involves the management of instrument facilities, laboratory/research support and teaching, and supporting the Department of Chemistry & Department of Geology and Geosciences.

Responsibilities:

  • Supporting the setup, maintenance, and operation of instruments; training of students and faculty in their proper use
  • Working with other campus specialists (e.g. Instrumentation, Laboratory, Information Technology, Environmental Health and Safety)
  • Working with faculty and students in the design, testing, and implementation of laboratory experiments
  • Design and construction of teaching and research apparatus; maintenance of field equipment; and driving 12 passenger vans. 
  • Assisting faculty in laboratories such as General Chemistry, and possibly other laboratories depending on the expertise of the successful candidate.

Qualifications: 

  • Master’s degree or higher in a related science or engineering area preferred. Individuals with a bachelors’ degree and exceptional experience and skills will be considered. 
  • Proficiency with a variety of modern instrumentation and computers required.
