Global Energy Consumption and Human Well-Being

Stanford, Lund, and Stockholm Universities seek a full-time postdoctoral scientist to examine metrics of human wellbeing in relation to per capita energy consumption—globally and for cities, countries, and regions. The results will help quantify the steep costs of energy poverty, the minimum energy needs for a civil and meaningful life, and the possibility that some countries could use less energy and be just as successful, reducing the need for global energy infrastructure and increasing global equity. The collaboration is led by Rob JacksonAnders Ahlström, and Gustaf Hugelius. It provides opportunities to work with scientists on the Global Carbon Project and is funded by Stanford’s Center on Longevity, through their New Map of Life project, and the Center for Advanced Studies in the Behavioral Sciences (CASBS). Please send a CV, statement of interests, and names and contact information for three letters of recommendation to Rob Jackson (rob.jackson@stanford.edu), copying Colin Finnegan (colinfinnegan@stanford.edu). Stanford is an equal opportunity employer; minority applicants are strongly encouraged to apply. Applications will be reviewed as they are received. Please apply by September 1st, 2019, for full consideration.
