PhD Studentships in Hydrogeology of Faults

Exciting PhD opportunities are available investigating the role of geological barriers on groundwater flow and transport. The project combines geology, hydraulic and chemical analysis to characterise the flow properties of faults, with important outcomes for water supply, mining and unconventional gas developments. The project is a collaboration between the Australian National Centre for Groundwater Research and Training (NCGRT), Flinders University, the University of Western Australia, Wageningen University, Rio Tinto and the Western Australian Government.  Exceptional candidates will receive tax free scholarships of up to $37,000 per year, together with generous project support. Successful candidates will be based in either Perth or Adelaide, with opportunities for international travel.

The successful applicant will join a dynamic research environment within the NCGRT, and have the opportunity to work with some of the world’s leading groundwater scientists.
