The Geology Department at Middlebury College invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in physical earth sciences beginning fall 2020. We seek a geoscientist with a background in quantitative approaches to Earth studies in a subfield that complements those of current faculty members in the Department. Areas of teaching and research interest could include, but are not limited to, marine, land, or environmental geophysics, geodesy, energy/mineral resource studies, geological hazard studies, glaciology, oceanography, physical climatology, climate system analysis and prediction, or ocean-atmosphere-cryosphere interactions. The successful applicant will be expected to teach both introductory and upper-level undergraduate courses, advise student research, develop a research program in their area of expertise that is suitable for undergraduate involvement, and contribute regularly to the college-wide curriculum, including the first-year seminar program and winter term. Candidates should provide evidence of commitment to excellent teaching and scholarly potential.
