The Nuclear Waste Technical Review Board (www.nwtrb.gov) is seeking to hire a Materials Engineer/Scientist. We are seeking candidates at both senior and junior levels. For junior applicants, this will be an opportunity to work with, and be mentored by, Board members and senior scientists and engineers on the staff. Applicants must have a master’s degree, or equivalent experience, in a relevant scientific or engineering field, such as materials science or engineering, chemistry or chemical engineering, nuclear engineering, geochemistry, or other similar or related fields. The candidate should have familiarity with the U.S. program and/or programs in other countries for managing and disposing of spent nuclear fuel and high-level radioactive waste, to support the Board’s review and evaluation of the technical validity of DOE activities and programs. The incumbent must have superior communication, synthesis, and writing skills, as well as an ability to work as a member of a multidisciplinary team, including Board members and staff. Occasional travel will be required.
