The Department of Geography & Geosciences seeks a broadly-trained Tenure-Track Assistant Professor in Physical Geography/Geology.

Area of Specialization includes but is not limited to: Dynamic and Synoptic Meteorology, Quantitative Methods in Climatology, Numerical Modeling, and Remote Sensing. 

Primary Job Duties: Teach up to 24 credit hours (or equivalent, generally six courses and several labs) per year in support of the Geography and Earth Science majors; maintain an active research agenda in an area of specialization, engage undergraduate students in research, challenge undergraduate students with integrated instruction and exploration including field-based courses, and utilize an effective teaching style that supports a diverse student body.

Minimum Requirements: A Ph.D. in Physical Geography, Meteorology, or related discipline. If Ph.D. completed by August 15, 2020, would be hired as Assistant Professor. If ABD; would be hired at the rank of Instructor, with the requirement that candidate complete doctoral degree by July 1, 2021. Area of Specialization includes but is not limited to Dynamic and synoptic meteorology, quantitative methods in climatology, numerical modeling, and remote sensing.

Preferred Requirements: Applicants who apply quantitative techniques to issues in geosciences.

The Department consists of 15 faculty members with specializations in GIScience, Atmospheric Science, Human Geography, Physical Geography, Geology, and Environmental/Land-Use Planning. The Department offers a B.S. in Earth Science, a B.S. in Geography, and a B.S. in Urban and Regional Planning, as well as a M.S. in GIS Management.
