The Department of Geological Sciences at Central Washington University (Ellensburg, WA), seeks a solid earth geoscientist, inclusive of the broad areas of petrology, volcanology, and related fields, for a tenure-track position beginning September 16, 2020. A strong commitment to teaching, recruiting, and research at the undergraduate and M.S. graduate level, including working with students from traditionally underrepresented groups, is essential. Hiring is expected at the assistant professor level, but candidates at the associate professor level who would enhance CWU’s diversity are also encouraged to apply. We also encourage applications from candidates who have had non-traditional career paths or who have taken time off for family reasons, or who have achieved excellence in careers outside academia. We especially welcome candidates whose research methods integrate field and laboratory approaches, and who can take advantage of CWU's location in the Cascade Range and the Murdock Research Laboratory (http://www.geology.cwu.edu/murdocklab/) to integrate field and lab experiences into the curriculum. Ellensburg lies 90 minutes east of Seattle and enjoys one of the finest living environments in the Pacific Northwest.
Complete position announcement and application instructions available at: https://careers.cwu.edu (Job ID 3263). A Ph.D. in geological sciences or related field is required by the start date. For additional information, see www.geology.cwu.edu or contact Dr. Chris Mattinson at mattinson@geology.cwu.edu. Screening will begin on November 1, 2019 and will be open until filled. CWU is an EEO/AA/Title IX/Veteran/Disability Employer.
