The University of Florida (UF) Department of Geological Sciences invites applications for a tenure accruing position in the area of Climate Change at the Assistant Professor level.  We are interested in candidates whose research focuses on interactions between and within the components of the climate system (the geosphere, hydrosphere, cryosphere, atmosphere, and biosphere) as well as the implications for those processes on past, present and/or future climate.  State-of-the-art facilities within the department include laboratories for organic and inorganic geochemistry paleomagnetism, and geochronology, and access to a high-performance computing cluster (geology.ufl.edu). We are particularly interested in applicants who will enhance existing geochemical facilities and build collaborations within the department and across UF with other departments, colleges, and interdisciplinary institutes and centers, including the Florida Climate Institute, UF Water Institute, School of Natural Resources and Environment, Thompson Earth Systems Institute, and Land Use and Environmental Change Institute, among others. 

We seek a scholar who is committed to teaching classes in her/his discipline at undergraduate and graduate levels and who shows evidence of a strong research trajectory. The successful candidate will be expected to have a PhD by August 16, 2020 and develop an active, externally funded research program that includes supporting and mentoring graduate students. The salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience, and includes a full benefits package.
