Description: The School of Earth Sciences (SES) and the School of Environment and Natural Resources(SENR) in partnership with the Sustainability Institute seeks an ecohydrologist, broadly defined, to complement existing expertise and foster collaboration among these partners at the Assistant Professor level (9-month, tenure-track position). We welcome applicants across a wide range of expertise that intersect with ecological and hydrological systems. Scientific research themes could range from urban to remote environments, ecosystems and biogeochemical cycling across a variety of scales, and/or the effects of climate or other stimuli on these systems. Methodological emphasis could range from sensor technologies on remote platforms (aircraft, drones, or satellite) to sensor networks, from mathematical/statistical to experimental/observational approaches, and from simple to complex systems including coupled natural-human systems. There are many opportunities for collaboration across the Ohio State campus, including with faculty affiliated with the Sustainability Institute, the Byrd Polar and Climate Research Center, the Ohio Water Resources Centerthe State Climate Office of Ohio, the Electroscience Laboratory, the Global Water Institute, and others. The successful candidate would be expected to teach courses related to ecohydrology in both SES and SENR, and collaborate with interdisciplinary research teams. This position is affiliated with the Sustainability Institute, which supports interdisciplinary research on sustainability and resilience topics, and is partially funded through the Ohio State's Discovery Themes Initiative, a significant faculty hiring investment in key thematic areas in which the university can build on its culture of academic collaboration to make a global impact.

Qualifications: Candidates with a PhD in an ecohydrology relevant field, or candidates who have completed all requirements but their dissertation may apply. Evidence of teaching is preferred. As a campus with a continuously growing diverse student body, we encourage applications from women, and under-represented minorities. Demonstrated experience in inclusive pedagogy and in mentoring members of underrepresented groups is desirable. Demonstrated interest in interdisciplinary research and collaboration is also desirable. Appointment is contingent on the university’s verification of credentials and other information required by law and/or university policies, including but not limited to a criminal background check.
