Ph.D. opportunities are available in the Geodynamics group at the Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Sciences (University of Miami). Research projects will utilize numerical modeling - in conjunction with geological observations - to investigate the dynamics of deformation at plate boundaries and within the underlying, convecting mantle.
Students with a background in either Earth sciences or another quantitative discipline (physics, engineering, etc.), and a strong academic record, are encouraged to apply. Prior to submitting an official application (deadline: January 1st), prospective students are encouraged to reach out to the Geodynamics group head, Dr. Adam Holt (aholt@miami.edu), to discuss specific research interests. For a taste of some of the research currently being conducted in the group see: https://adamholt.weebly.com/research.html
Successful applicants will become members of the Department of Marine Geosciences, which is home to faculty with a diverse range of research focuses (e.g. Seismology, Geodesy, Remote Sensing) and is located on the picturesque Rosenstiel School campus (Virginia Key, Miami). Information on the official application procedure can be found at: https://graduate.rsmas.miami.edu/admissions/application-information/index.html
The University of Miami is an equal opportunity employer.
