Accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH) and known for our outstanding teaching and research, The University at Albany School of Public Health was founded in 1985 as a unique partnership between the University at Albany and the New York State Department of Health, whose scientists hold faculty appointments in the School, and team up with UAlbany professors to teach and mentor students and conduct research.

The world-class faculty in the EHS department is engaged in a broad range of laboratory and field-based environmental health scientific research across the fields of toxicology, environmental chemistry, microbiology, engineering, global health and epidemiology. The Department is closely associated with the Center for Environmental Health (CEH) and the Wadsworth Center, both of which are part of the New York State Department of Health (DOH), the largest and most comprehensive department of health in the nation.
