Job Details

The Department of Earth Sciences at the University of Memphis invites applications for a nine-month, tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level with expertise in sedimentary geology or fluvial geomorphology to begin in August 2020.  Excellent applicants should have demonstrated expertise in two or more of the following research areas: sedimentary processes and deposits, paleontology, spatial analysis, applications of LiDAR, large river systems, and global stratigraphy.  The successful applicant will develop an active research program, compete for external funding to support their research, teach undergraduate and graduate courses, and contribute to the service mission of the University.  The Department of Earth Sciences is an interdisciplinary program in archaeology, geography, and geology that offers B.A., M.A., M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Earth Sciences. 

Applicants must have a Ph.D. from an accredited institution in Earth Sciences, Geology, Geography, or closely related field at the time of appointment.  Applicants must have demonstrated ability to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in sedimentary geology and/or geomorphology, publish scholarly research, and foster research opportunities for students.
