We seek candidates who can develop a strong research program in an area of earth sciences that will complement the existing programs in the School of Earth Sciences. Candidates would be expected to teach a range of undergraduate classes including (but not necessarily limited to): introductory, general education courses in Earth Sciences, as well as courses on specific topics such as national parks, natural disasters, and history of the earth. We are particularly interested in candidates who would be able to teach collaboratively on the topic of climate change.  Other responsibilities include teaching undergraduate courses; engaging in scholarly research and publication (position includes seed grant); and providing service to campus, university, and discipline.

Several opportunities exist for connection with resources such as the Yoder Prairie in Marion, as well as the Byrd Polar Climate and Research Center, the Sustainability Institute, and CERTAIN (Center for Energy Research Training and Innovation) at OSU in Columbus.

To ensure full consideration, submit (1) a cover letter; (2) a teaching statement addressing philosophy and experience; (3) evidence of teaching excellence, such as formal teaching evaluations or discursive comments; (4) a research statement indicating interests, plan, and experience; (5) up to 3 research publication(s) representative of current work; and (6) a current vita.  Selected candidates will be contacted for graduate transcripts and letters of recommendation. Electronic submissions are accepted at mrn-earthsciences@osu.edu.

Priority consideration will be given to applications received before January 31, 2020.  Review will continue until the position is filled. This position requires successful completion of a background check. Ohio State University is an EEO/AA Employer and encourages applications from minorities, veterans, women and individuals with disabilities.
