Three funded MS or PhD positions and one postdoctoral position starting fall 2020 are available in the Geological Engineering program at Missouri University of Science and Technology. The successful applicants will work on a project to characterize and map subsurface features in an urban environment to create a 3D subsurface model. Two students will work primarily on acquiring and processing data using GPR, while the third student will use GIS and remote sensing tools to integrate and interpret the datasets in a 3D model. The intersection of urban features with geologic and environmental issues will also be considered.
Qualifications (MS or PhD candidates for GPR project):
- Bachelor’s degree in geological engineering or a related field
- Preferred: experience with collecting and processing GPR or other geophysical data
- Strong field work skills
- Minimum GRE scores: 155 (Quantitative), 150 (Verbal)
- Must meet Missouri S&T’s and the GGPE department admission requirements: https://futurestudents.mst.edu/admissions/graduate-on-campus/
Qualifications (MS or PhD candidates for GIS project):
- Bachelor’s degree in geological engineering or a related field
- Preferred: experience with ArcMap or other GIS software, as well as experience programming
- Minimum GRE scores: 155 (Quantitative), 150 (Verbal)
- Must meet Missouri S&T’s and the GGPE department admission requirements: https://futurestudents.mst.edu/admissions/graduate-on-campus/
Qualifications (Postdoctoral candidates):
- PhD degree in geological engineering or a related field
- Experience with collecting and processing GPR or other geophysical data
- Skills in GPR data analysis and interpretation are preferred
In addition, all candidates should have:
- Strong oral and written communication skills in English
- Ability to work well independently and on a team
- Ability to begin data acquisition by Sept. 2020
How to Apply:
