Two Tenured Positions at Associate and/or Full Professor Level in Marine/Coastal Geology and in Geochemistry

The preferred applicant will have a background in geology, geophysics, geomorphology or sedimentology with demonstrated ability to work on coastal and submarine environments for position [1], and position [2] is opened to geochemists with interest in similar environments, and preferably specialized in isotope dating and/or tracing - the department has its own particle accelerator. The applicant should build externally-funded research programs, which would feed into the applicant's teaching at undergraduate and graduate level, enhancing the multi-disciplinary research culture of the graduate school. The applicant is expected to develop original and attractive teaching programs for national and international students.

The faculty is a multi-disciplinary maritime sciences and engineering department, within which a strong cluster of geoscientists is being developed. At present, climate scientists, environmental hazards and deep-ocean geologists are part of the group. The applicants for both position [1] and [2] are expected to contribute to the development of this unit.

Two of the main assets of the department are the department-owned ROV and the training and exploration ship “Fukae-maru", which the applicants can use for their research, on top of the other university facilities. The applicant is expected to develop programs and partnerships both internationally and within the department.

For this position, female-gender and individuals from minority ethnic groups will be given the priority at equal skills and experience.
