The Department of Geosciences at Auburn University invites applications for a 9-month non-tenure track faculty position in Geography beginning January 1, 2021. The position is a one-year appointment subject to annual renewal based on performance, need for services and available funding.

Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Geography or related field with demonstrable teaching experience at the time of employment. The department seeks an enthusiastic candidate who is committed to teaching excellence and shows evidence of actively engaging undergraduates. Experience with implementing inquiry, project, or technology-based active learning into teaching will be an asset. The ideal candidate would be a human geographer with the ability to teach a combination of introductory Global Geography (World Regional Geography) and Human Geography courses, as well as upper division undergraduate courses determined by the candidate’s expertise, experience, and departmental needs. Preference will be given to candidates with experience teaching undergraduate Geographic Information System (GIS) courses. The teaching load will be three courses each semester. Other related duties include preparing course syllabi, grading, maintaining weekly office hours, coordinating GTA’s assisting the teaching, promoting the Geography program, recruiting majors, and participating in activities in conjunction with the Geosciences Department and College of Sciences and Mathematics. Salary and benefits are competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Applicants should submit a curriculum vitae, a letter of application (1-2 pages) describing teaching philosophy and experience, and the names and contact information of at least three references. To apply please go to http://www.auemployment.com/postings/19325, complete the online form and upload the required application documents.

Applicants are encouraged to visit the AU website to learn more about Auburn University and the Department of Geosciences (http://www.auburn.edu/academic/cosam/geosciences/). Review of applications will begin October 10, 2020, and will continue until a candidate accepts appointment.
