Academic Coordinator - Berkeley Seismology Lab - College of L&S: Division of Math & Physical Sciences
The University of California Berkeley Seismology Lab invites applications for an Academic Coordinator position for its Operations Manager with an expected start date of January 1, 2021. This is a full time position.
The BSL's Operations Manager oversees and manages all real time operations at the BSL, including installation and operation of and real time collection of data from remote geophysical stations; real time data processing, products and the data center; interactions with operation of the earthquake early warning system (ShakeAlert); and providing earthquake information to stakeholders and the public. In addition to managing the staff associated with these tasks, the person will be responsible for preparing budgets, proposals and reports, and overseeing the administration of grants that support the BSL's operations.

The basic qualifications required to be considered for this position are a Ph.D. or equivalent international degree, or enrollment in a Ph.D. or equivalent international degree-granting program at the time of application.
The preferred qualifications for this position are 5 years experience in handling logistics of earthquake monitoring and notification, supervision of technical staff, proposal and budget preparation, as well as writing and publishing technical and scientific reports. Experience with seismic instrumentation. Experience with management of seismic and/or geodetic data. Experience in project management. Experience and interest in communicating scientific information to colleagues, stakeholders and the public.
Salary is commensurate with experience.
