Graduate assistantship in Marine Geochemistry
The Hayes Lab for Marine Geochemistry (chrishayesgeochemistry.com) at The University of Southern Mississippi (USM) is seeking applicants for a graduate assistant pursuing a Master's or PhD in Marine Science, to begin as early as Summer 2021. The successful applicant will work on NSF funded projects involving the GEOTRACES (geotraces.org) global survey of trace elements and isotopes with applications to understanding the ocean's biological productivity and circulation in the modern and ancient ocean. We seek candidates with a strong background in chemical analyses, proficiency in data analysis and excellent organizational skills. All Marine Science graduate assistants are supported with an annual resource package, including a tuition waiver and a stipend with benefits. USM has been designated as the flagship university for Marine Science in the state of Mississippi and is an R1 Carnegie Research University. Marine Science faculty and graduate programs are housed at Stennis Space Center, which is a federal city that boasts the world’s largest concentration of oceanographers, including federal agencies associated with NOAA, Navy and USGS. Stennis is within driving distance of the Port of Gulfport, New Orleans, and the Northshore of Lake Pontchartrain.
