The USDA Agricultural Research Service and Agricultural Water Use Efficiency and Salinity Research Unit (U.S. Salinity Laboratory) in Riverside, CA invites applications for a full time Research Soil Scientist position (GS 12, 13, or 14). The successful applicant will join a research group that focuses on sustainable irrigated agricultural systems in semi-arid regions and the potential dissemination of contaminants from agricultural and wastewater reuse operations. Contaminants of concern include salts, pathogens, and constituents of emerging concern (CEC). Incumbent conceives, plans, and conducts basic and applied research on chemical and mineralogical processes operating in soilwater systems that influence crop production, soil and water conservation, and environmental pollution. Duties include providing technical and administrative supervision of a Soil Scientist and interacting with stakeholders.
